Immigration policy appears to be dysfunctional and that reform is needed. Here are some areas that are putting safety, security, social programs, economic stability, and political stability at risk. Please join the conversation with comments on these and other points needed for reform.
LAWFUL IMMIGRATION
Needed by the nation and supported by the government and private sectors. The requirements need to be reviewed and adjusted. Here are some of those requirements:
Anchor babies – persons coming to the USA only to give birth and be granted US Citizenship for the baby. This policy is being abused, especially in the territories (Source)
Citizenship granted to all babies born in the USA regardless of the nationality of its parents – not all countries have this right. This policy is being abused, especially in the territories (Source)
Chain migration rules should be reviewed as to the “length” of the chain. (Source)
H1B1 visas requirements should be restricted to: (Source)
Skills in short supply in the US workforce that are critical to nation’s productivity, innovation, economy and GDP
H2A visa requirements (Source)
Unskilled labor shortages that American labor will not do - agriculture harvesting
ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION
Mass illegal immigration does not help the nation in any way. It is a burden on the nation and its citizens. These are some of the issues with mass illegal immigration:
Overwhelms the CBP workforce, procedures, processes and facilities for holding and processing illegals applying for asylum.
Additional burdens on social programs – medical, schooling, housing, financial assistance, and state welfare.
Increased tax burden on citizens
Additional burdens ICE to locate and deport in the future
Additional burdens for justice system – processing of NTA’s (Notice to Appear) in court at a later date
Impacts employment
Impacts safety of citizens & property – criminal activity
Impacts health and well-being of citizens – exposure to unknown diseases
Congress could pass laws to give advantages to illegals leading to citizenship ahead of legal immigrants and those in the queue awaiting entry into the USA legally – fundamentally wrong
Conceals and promotes criminals entering the country
Conceals and promotes human trafficking
Conceals and promotes illegal drug trafficking
